December 2008

Dear Members of the "Christian Worship Hour" Family:

When a child is born, the first thing is to name him. I am so glad that my Mother insisted on naming me Harold, I just love that name; I wish she would have made my middle name Harold, too! But here is One Whose Name is above every name. (Phil 2:10,11). The prophet Isaiah told us His Name 700 years before He was born.

". . .His Name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God,

the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6

Just think about that NAME:

    • HIS NAME IS "WONDERFUL". Well I should say so. Like a diamond that flashes beauty no matter which way it is turned, so the Lord Jesus is wonderful no matter which way you look at Him. For instance, look at His nature—God and man in one person. Friend, there has never been such a person before and there will never be another again. Jesus Christ in unique. Jesus’ teachings are wonderful because they tell us the way to God and heaven. There is only one door into heaven, and it is labeled "JESUS". And you know what, Jesus becomes more wonderful the more you know Him! Wonderful? Well I guess!

    • HIS NAME IS "COUNSELOR". And boy do we need a counselor! We are on a wilderness journey with pathways leading everywhere and all looking good. But the end of the trail is disaster except for one Way, the ONLY way, Jesus. Jesus is able to give us wise counsel for in Him is all wisdom and knowledge. (Cor. 2:3). Because of His wisdom, He never makes a mistake, so we can trust His guiding hand. The problem is that some of us do not listen, we do our own thing and it flops. Jesus never has a failure.

    • HIS NAME IS "THE MIGHTY GOD". Men and nations like to think of themselves as powerful and mighty—but look at the mess the whole world is in due to these wonderful so-called leaders. Personally, I don’t think the world’s leaders can ever straighten out the mess they have brought us to, only God in his might and power can turn things around. But because He is Almighty, we need never fear in this life or the next! (Isaiah 9:7).

    • HIS NAME IS "THE EVERLASTING FATHER". This does not mean that the Son is also the Father because each Person in the Trinity is distinct. It is better translated, "Father of Eternity" meaning that Jesus is the Originator of all things that exist. Can you imagine it, Jesus was His earthly name, but in fact, Jesus never had a beginning or an ending—He is eternal. The events of this life are but like a wisp of smoke but our Lord is the eternal and everlasting Rock of Ages! Isn’t that great?

    • HIS NAME IS "THE PRINCE OF PEACE". He came to bring peace, but we will never have that peace until we personally make peace with God by accepting His Son into our life and are born again! In the home, or the church, or society—there can never be peace until we have the Prince of Peace in our hearts and lives. So we need to be sure we have placed our faith in Jesus, and personally asked Him into our heart, then we can have peace. But we must not stop there; we must be peacemakers telling others about what Jesus has done for us, and urging others to trust Him. (II Corinthians 5:20)

And that is the ministry of the Christian Worship Hour, to bring people into a relationship with this wonderful Jesus! So, we need your prayers and gifts. These are hard economic times for some of our people so we need others to stand in the gap so we do not have to drop stations.

As a matter-of-fact, by faith and faith alone, we have added another station! Instead of drawing back we are going to forge ahead in Christ’s Name. The new station:

KJWY-TV, Jackson Hole, WY, 9:00 a.m., Sunday’s, MST

If you have friends, or even enemies, tell them about the service, and pray HARD. We want to honor and glory the wonderful JESUS!

I’ll be looking for you this weekend. God bless you.

Sincerely In Christ,

Harold E. Salem, pastor

"Dear Pastor Salem, God our Father has told me you need this money very soon! He gave me this and more money about 20 years to keep until He told me where it should go. I have listened and the money that He has already called has done great good for His work. God, Jesus, and the Great Holy Spirit love those who listen. Do Not Use My Name or thank me. Thank God, Jesus & the Holy Spirit. Love all that Do Jesus’ work! The time for all may be short." $10,000

LAKE OZARK, MO

"I am no longer able to get to church. My health is not good, I’m 87 years old. I’m printing because of a stroke, I don’t write well. Your sermon is my only Christian Service. Because of my age I suppose I’m used to sermons such as you give me. Long after I turn off my TV I feel "full" to bursting, with your (no holes barred) gift of the Holy Word of Jesus. My hope is you will be there (TV) as long as I can hear you. I am sending a gift to you & your church for the Lord’s needs." $10

BEMIDJI, MN

". . .We are a little older than you are (my wife 101 plus, and I being 91 year plus). We are both belated Presbyterians. However, we both enjoy your church service with its fine music and sermons. Your sermon anecdotes or ‘off the cuff remarks’ we find both amusing and practical….makes it ‘down to earth’, so to speak. . ." $25

HURON, SD

"Thank you for preaching the gospel." $30

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA, CANADA

"Pastor Salem, Just a note to encourage your hearts. You’ve been such a blessing to me, watching your television broadcast. I’m just a poor girl, that can’t get to church. I live on a small social security disability check. I’ve been wanting to send a gift. Recently, I mentioned in prayer to God my desire to send a gift to you. Today he answered that prayer, and brought me great unspeakable joy. God take this meager gift for His glory and bless. I’ll see you one day soon, home. Your sister in Christ." $5

PORT RICHEY, FL

"Thank you for bringing the word of Jesus each week. My cousin raised sheep near Melstone, Montana. We like your cowboy stories. Always thankful for Jesus." $100

BILLINGS, MT

"I was going from channel to channel hunting something to listen to on television, and happened to find Christian Worship Hour. I had never heard you before. I listen to Love Worth Finding, Charles Stanley and David Jeremiah, all sound preachers. If I happen to run across one not sound, I don’t listen and there are more like that then sound ones, I’m sorry to say. I found yours sound, a good sermon. . .It was down to earth. I’ll be listening next week the Good Lord willing. Love in Christ." $25
